Rudolf Lazlo Szilvasi, 85, of Hamilton, entered into his eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Merwick in Plainsboro, NJ. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Rudolf entered the military in Germany at the age of 20 and then immigrated to the United States in 1959 to begin bootcamp at Fort Benning, GA. He served in the U.S. Army honorably in the 3rd Infantry Division from 1958 to 1963. Rudolf was a member of the Hamilton Chess Club for many years. He loved soccer and coached it at Our Lady of Sorrows School for about 30 years. He was a quiet family man who loved the outdoors, hiking, and camping in his Volkswagen Camper. He loved traveling and taking Starr Bus trips. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Son of the late Lazlo and Ilona (Adamka) Szilvasi; husband of the late Roseann (Pittaro) Szilvasi; brother of the late Judith Torok and husband Istvan; brother-in-law of the late Marion Hawes and husband Eldon; Rudolf is survived by daughter, Karen and husband Eric Santini; a son, Steven Szilvasi and wife Nicole; four grandchildren, Kathryn, Ryan, and Madison Szilvasi, and Tristan Santini; a brother-in-law, Francis “Sonny” Pittaro and wife Elaine; nieces and nephews, Sharon and David Pritchard, Linda and Bruce Wilson, Elena and Greg Septer, Chris Pittaro Akos, and Dori Torok; as well as other family and friends.
Catholic funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. Family and friends may call Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
