Mildred O. (Millie) Simms, of Hamilton, NJ, died Friday, November 11, 2022, at her home, with her husband at her side.
She was born in Shelton, Connecticut to the late Frank J. and Vlasta Ondrushek. Millie resided in Hamilton, New Jersey, for over 60 years. She worked at Sealtest Foods, Vanda Beauty Counselor Company, and then was co-owner of J&M Jewelry in Hamilton Square for many years, until her retirement. Millie was an avid skier, ice skater and golfer, but her favorite activity was her role as Mimi to her 2 grandsons.
Millie was a past member of Peddie Golf Club, Olde York Country Club, and a current member of TPC Jasna Polana. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Millie is survived by her husband, John Wesley (Wes) Dawson, her sons Donald G. Simms, Jr. (Kathy) of Chesapeake, VA and David G. Simms (Stephanie) of Newtown, PA; her brother Frank Ondrushek, Jr. (Fran) of Cream Ridge, her grandsons Christian and Matthew Simms, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald G. Simms, her brother, Alec Ondrushek and her sister, Vera McClure.
It was Millie’s request to donate her body for medical education and research. Calling hours will be at 10am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Mercerville, NJ, until the memorial mass, starting at 11am. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Hamilton Township, and will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to your favorite veteran’s charity.
