On Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, Maurice Leonardi passed away peacefully while receiving care at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Princeton, NJ. Maurice is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adele (Arena) Leonardi, brother Charles Leonardi, sons Charles Alfred Leonardi and Maurice Nicolas Leonardi, daughters in law Cathianne (Caiazzo) Leonardi and Sandra (Lee Jo) Leonardi, and two grandchildren, Abigail, and André, who affectionately called him "Pops." Maurice was born to Gaspar Leonardi and Frances (Scimonelli) Leonardi on January 18th, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Ozone Park, Queens, NYC. Maurice graduated from John Adams Highschool in 1959 and began studies at Oklahoma University. In 1964 he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox and the Panama Canal. Following military service, Maurice began work at the New York Stock Exchange, where he met his future wife, Adele; they married in 1967, and with her encouragement and support, Maurice graduated from Pace College and earned a master's degree from the NYU Stern School of Business. Maurice was an executive with the conglomerate International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (ITT) and sat on the board of many of its corporate entities. While with ITT, he traveled to 5 continents and over 40 countries and enjoyed learning about other people, cultures, and traditions. Maurice enjoyed playing golf, the NY Times crossword, and was a passionate Yankees fan with a comprehensive knowledge of the team, its players, and baseball; however, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, which he adored.
