Mary Jane Williams Obituary

Mary Jane S. (“MJ”) Williams, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born in Trenton, NJ to the late Thomas and Jean Ward and was a lifelong resident of Hamilton Township.  She attended St. Raphael School and St. Anthony High School (now Trenton Catholic Academy). After earning an Associate Degree from Mercer County Community College, MJ worked in the International Patent Department of AT&T in Hopewell, NJ, where she first met her husband, George.  MJ’s children, Christopher and Lauren, were her greatest joy, and she spent their early years assuming significant volunteer leadership roles in their childhood activities and school, including serving multiple years as President of the Parent Teachers Association of University Heights Elementary School.  In 1996, she returned to the workforce as Director of Parent Relations at the Hun School of Princeton, where she served for 16 years as a liaison to Hun’s Parents’ Association, cultivating volunteerism and leadership to benefit the school and its students.

MJ loved spending her summers at the Jersey Shore, where she would sit on the beach from sunup to sundown. At home, entertaining was her time to shine.  She brought people together and made her home a warm, welcoming place with her baking and cooking.  MJ was a true “people person,” forming special, genuine connections with everyone she met and touching their lives through her kindness, compassion, and selfless acts.

MJ is survived by her husband of 42 years, George Williams, her children Christopher M. Williams (Megan) and Lauren A. Farris (John); her sister, Cynthia Peterson; her brother, Thomas Ward (Nancy); her granddaughters, Maeve, Grace and Alice Williams; and her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Ward.
