Joseph James Gallo, Sr.

Joseph James Gallo, Sr., age 76, of Ewing, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Capital Health Regional in Trenton, NJ.  Born in Ewing, NJ, Joseph was a lifelong area resident.  He was a graduate of Ewing High School Class of 1964. Joseph was an Army Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 314. He worked for many years at Haldemann Ford as a body fender mechanic.  Joseph also owned and operated his own delivery service called MJR in Philadelphia, PA.  He enjoyed fishing, games, playing cards, restoring cars, especially his ’57 Chevy.  Joseph also enjoyed his Jack Daniel’s and smoking cigars.  He was a member of Bob Smith’s Lamplighters Big Band for many years as a saxophonist.  He loved music and was an excellent musician.  Joseph was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Gray) Gallo; brother-in-law of the late Elayne Smith; he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo Ann (Vandegrift) Gallo; his son, Joseph James Gallo, Jr.; his sister, Frances and husband Vernon Vix; two nieces, Laura Smith, and Grace and husband Nick Hempstead; two nephews, Grant and Carrie Vix, and Alex and Heidi Vix; as well as many other family and friends.
