James Louis Eggers, 77, of Hamilton, NJ, entered into his eternal rest with the Lord on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, NJ, James was a lifelong area resident. He was raised by his grandparents the late Louis and Catherine Persico. He was a graduate of Steinert High School, Class of 1963. He received his associate degree from Rider College and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a Marine. James went on to continue serving in his community as a Hamilton Township police officer for 30 years. He loved playing golf and enjoyed working out daily. James was a parishioner of St. George Church in Titusville, NJ. In his younger years he served as an altar boy at St. Anthony’s Church for Monsignor McCorristin. Jim loved old cars and was in a motorcycle club. Jim was a loving and devoted son, husband, brother, nephew, and friend.
Son of the late Robert and Katherine (Persico) Eggers; brother/nephew of the late Molly Morgan and Lois Persico; James is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Susan Lynn (Davison) Eggers; his half sisters, Marcy (Bruce) Hort , Marianne (Fred) Campbell, his aunts who he was raised with and who were like sisters, Marcy Hutchinson and Shirley Reiger; his sister-in-law, Karen (Joseph) Pokropski; and other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. George Church, 1370 River Rd.,Titusville, NJ. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. George Church prior to the mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
