Helen Betty (Ott) Birchenough

Helen Betty Birchenough of Ewing, NJ passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 with her family by her side.

Helen was born to Charles Ott and Helen (Abbott) Cronce on June 2, 1934 and was 88 years old. She was born and raised in Frenchtown, NJ.  She married her husband James Sr. and resided in Ewing, NJ where they raised 6 children, Debbie, James Jr.,Robert, Brian, Steven, and Terry, as well as half the neighborhood too.  

Dancing and socializing were her passions and pleasures.  She was involved with everything from Bingo to Trott & Brew to being a dignitary in the Memorial Day Parade.  Helen enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  

Once you step foot on Birchenough land according to Helen, you were treated like family.  She enjoyed her camaraderie with her extended family at the Legion Post 436 in Penndel, PA and the Legion Post 314 in Ewing, NJ, and the Ladies Auxiliary of which she was a proud and dedicated member.  

Spending her winters in Lake Wales, FL with Jim, as a snowbird, they loved reuniting with their southern friends.  Stories of love and laughter would always follow Helen home to New Jersey.  

Daughter of the late Charles Ott and Helen (Abbott) Cronce; beloved wife of the late James Birchenough Sr.; mother of the late Terry Lee Birchenough; sister of the late Anna, Minnie, Hazel, William, and Augustus Cronce. Helen is survived by her five children, Debbie (Toby) Sutton, James Jr. (Cheryl) Birchenough, Robert Sr. (Phyllis) Birchenough, Brian Birchenough, and Steven (Patty) Birchenough; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Baptist funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Cox officiating at the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Ave.,Ewing, NJ 08638.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.   Please visit Helen’s tribute page at www.brennacellinifuneralhomes.com
