Ersilio Zita, 88, of Hamilton, NJ, entered into his eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in S’Ant Angelo d’Alife, Italy and has resided in the Hamilton area since 1963. Ersilio was a cabinet maker by trade who restored antique furniture. He was formerly employed by Bailey’s Millwork and the Mercer County Office of Sheriff in Trenton, NJ for many years. He was a member of the Hamilton Knights of Columbus Council #6213 for decades.
Ersilio was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church for over 60 years.
He loved opera and gardening and grew beautiful roses and vegetables every year. He enjoyed making homemade wine, and was extremely charitable. He gave to many religious charities, deserving causes and especially to his beloved church. He was a family man who adored his daughters and his grandchildren but most of all he was a loving and dedicated husband to his beloved wife Maria of 64 years.
Son of the late Pasquale and Giovanna (D’Ambrosio) Zita; brother of the late Nino, Davide, and Mario Zita. Ersilio is survived by his wife, Maria (Manera) Zita; his two daughters, Patrizia Zita and husband Jacob Genovay, and Diana Zita and husband Frank Gibson; four cherished grandchildren, Conner Vorona, Julia and Laura Genovay, and Alexander Vorona; two sisters, Lillina DiRienzo, and Teresa Napoletano; three sisters-in-law, Anna Russo, Lidia Izzo, and Mafalda Diana; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends both here and in Italy.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony’s Church, 626 So. Olden Ave., Trenton, NJ. A private entombment for immediate family only, will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Madonna Mausoleum, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ersilio’s memory to OLS-St. Anthony’s Parish, 3816 E. State St. Ext., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
