Thomas James Thompson, age 70, of Hamilton, NJ, entered into his eternal rest with God on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Trenton, NJ, Thomas was a lifelong area resident. He retired from General Motors Corporation in 2008 after 35years of dedicated employment at the plant in Ewing and then in Wilmington.
Thomas was a hardworking family man who loved nothing more than spending quality time with them, especially his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “T-Pops”, he loved playing in the pool with them during the summer. During retirement he enjoyed driving his grandsons to and from school or sports and spoiling them with treats while they spent quality time together. Thomas enjoyed teaching his daughters about golf and taking them to hit golf balls at a young age. He also enjoyed taking them for rides in his convertible. He taught his daughters boxing and self-defense to ensure they would be confident and able to defend themselves. Thomas enjoyed watching comedies with his daughters, playing video games with them and watching sports, especially football and wrestling.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a talent at making everyone he met feel comfortable and everybody liked him instantly. He was very empathetic and compassionate to others and loved pets. He was also known as the King of one-liners. Always ready with a joke to cheer someone up or make them smile when he instinctively knew they needed it.
Son of the late William and Kathryn E. (Cunningham) Thompson; brother of the late William Thompson; uncle of the late Bill Thompson; Thomas is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene D. (Carabelli) Thompson; his two daughters, Darlene and husband George Swindasz and Michele Thompson; his four beloved grandchildren, George, Jake, Joe and Bella Swindasz; a sister, Kathryn Thompson; a nephew, Daniel Thompson; and other family and friends.
