Beatrice Perkins Obituary

Beatrice (Tucker) Perkins was born on April 2, 1958 to the late James Thomas and Elease Tucker in Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She was the baby girl of her parents.

Beatrice Perkins, affectionately known as “Chank” to her family and friends, was educated in the New York City Public School system. She developed a love for doing hair and eventually enrolled in Cosmetology school. She accepted Christ early and joined the family church, Universal Temple Church of God under leadership of the late Bishop Landing E. Penn where she served as an usher.

Beatrice enjoyed spending time with family. She had a special bond with her nieces Loretta and Yvonne, who preceded her in death. Over the years, Beatrice became known for her fashion. Some people used to say, “she would tear up the sidewalk” with her signature walk, which drew the attention of Henry Perkins Jr. known to his family as “Moochie”. Chank and Moochie met and fell in love. On March 7, 1980, they were married and to this union, three children were born, Ronnie, who preceded in death, Shaun and Kareem (Isam Sr).

Beatrice loved her family. She was a loving wife and mother to her boys. She was a firm believer in tough love. Beatrice was very selective about who she allowed in her circle, so if you developed a bond with her, you knew it was special.

She then joined Universal Love Peace and Joy Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Dwayne Castro, where she continued to serve as an usher for many years.

Beatrice loved to watch wrestling, watch movies, go shopping, talk on the phone with her brother Gregory, take trips to the casino but she
especially loved family get-togethers where she could pull out her change and play her favorite game, Pitty Pat.

Beatrice loved the kind that jingled but she rathered the kind that folds. She was known to be very frugal which led to her being known for the famous line “uh huh, I ain’t even got it” except when it came to her grandchildren who each shared a special place in her heart and were her joy.

On the evening of April 19, 2024, an angel appeared at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and whispered to Beatrice that her earthly work was done, and she received her heavenly wings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ronnie and 9 of her brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish in her memory her sons Shaun (Yvonne), Kareem (Jarena), her five grandchildren, Kayla, Sanyah, Jayden, Sanyah, Seth and Isam Jr; her brother Gregory, her sister Ethel; Godsister Jackie, and many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

The family of the late Beatrice Perkins would also like to acknowledge with sincere
appreciation, the many kind acts of sympathy and love extended to our family during our
bereavement.
